Paris Jefferson has won the Best Actress award at the 9th British Independent Film Festival, held at Cineworld’s Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, London on 2nd June 2018, for her performance as the Devil in Marc Conen’s feature debut Sunset Contract. Written and directed by Marc Conen (1970), Sunset Contract is a dialogue-driven, mystery thriller, which tells the original story of the Devil herself (Paris Jefferson) appearing before social media CEO Brad (Peter Nicholas) to tempt him into signing a rewarding, privacy-violating contract before sunset or else ‘the day is lost’. Brad tries to comply quickly, but when his girlfriend Mary (Anna Nightingale) suddenly appears, the meeting takes a turn for the worse and matters quickly spiral out of control.
Jefferson was born in London and raised in Sydney, Australia. She trained as a dancer before becoming an actress. Since her move back to London she has played both English and American leading roles in the UK, USA and Ireland. She is best known for her role in Xena: Warrior Princess, A Will of Their Own, The Diamond of Jeru and Valentine’s Again. From 2006-2012 her theatre credits include the lead in Anna Karenina, The Constant Wife, Present Laughter and Private Lives at the Gate Theatre, Dublin and at the Spoleto Festival, USA, and Frankie & Johnny at the York Theatre Royal, UK.
Indiepend Pictures is proud that Sunset Contract was also nominated for the categories Best Feature Film, Best Actor (Peter Nicholas), Best Actress (Paris Jefferson), Best Supporting Actress (Anna Nightingale) and Best Cinematography (Goof de Koning).
